Do you know what sound the mountain makes when it celebrates? It’s not a noise, it’s a hug. If you’re looking for one more reason to come visit us at the beginning of summer, pause for a moment. On July 4th and 5th, 2026, the nearby and picturesque village of Rimella will transform to host the 8th Accordion Gathering in Valsesia. Don’t think of it as the usual formal event on the calendar: it’s a deep dive into our history, traditions, and the most genuine folk music.

We at Walser House love to recommend the living traditions, those that smell of wood, good food, and the exchanged glances between people who sit close for the first time and, after ten minutes, are already raising their glasses together.

What will happen over the weekend?

The fresh air of Val Mastallone will begin to fill with notes starting Saturday, July 4th. At 8:00 PM, everyone will sit down together for a big dinner in company: the best way to break the ice.

But it is Sunday, July 5th that the magic truly explodes.

From 10:30 AM, accordionists, arriving from every corner of Piedmont, begin to fill the streets of Rimella. At 11:15 AM, there is a beautiful, intimate, and heartfelt moment: the Mass with the blessing of the instruments. To crown the day, at 1:00 PM, everyone gathers under the Pro Loco tent. There are no distant stages there: the music is played just a hand's breadth from your nose, accompanying the Sunday lunch amidst laughter, folk songs, and that human warmth that we are somewhat losing in the city.

Why are we talking about it among our activities?

Because living in Valsesia means not only hiking in the woods or relaxing in your room. It means letting yourself be tousled by emotions and being influenced by the spirit of those who inhabit, breathe, and play the mountain. Listening to an accordion echoing among the ancient architectures of the village is an experience that reconnects you with simple things.
