What to see and visit

The uncontaminated nature in which the Resort Walserhouse is immersed in is perfect for trekking, excursions, walks in the beautiful Valley of Rimella and in the surrounding communities...but also it is the best if you simply want to enjoy the calm and the enchanting mountain landscapes.

It is possible to book excursions focused on food or wine, on nature, on museums and on culture; the experienced and impassioned local guides will know how to tell you the history of Valsesia.

Rimella e il San Gottardo


Rimella has been the first community walser founded in Valsesia and it is the only still present in Val Mastallone. Even nowadays  the inhabitants speak the ancient language walser (tittschu) and on special occasions, such as marriages, they wear the traditional dresses.
The territory is preserved uncontaminated, and it still maintains in the 14 different communities the original and primitive architecture.

Museum Carestia Tirozzo

In the museum you can admire one of the most important collections (1000 papers) of botanical studies by the Abbot Carestia, thanks to Pier Ugo Tirozzo and his father.

The museum is located in a strategic panoramic point in the community of Campelli di Fobello, in Val Mastallone. It first opened in 1993 in professor's Tirozzo house, that was given in 1987 to CAI.

Natural reserve of  Sacro Monte of Varallo, sanctuary wanted in 1491 by the priest Bernardino Caimi  that is now patrimony of the Unesco.
Varallo is only 19 Km away from Rimella. What to see in Varallo: the Sacro Monte, the art gallery and Villa Virginia.

Rima San Giuseppe

You will be able to visit the borough that was famous in all european courts in 1700 thanks to the faux marble painting technique, which consists in the creation of fake marble pieces thanks to the smart use of colours.

Must see: Museum Gipsoteca "Pietro Della Vedova".

The lime ovens in Rassa

Rassa, in the marvelous Valley Artogna, is known because of its position: it is a village set in the rock face of the mountain!

Alagna and Mount Rosa

Located on the south slope of Mount Rosa, founded in 1200 by some Walser colonisers, nowadays Alagna is very important for the ecomuseum in Valsesia thanks to its rock ovens, to its mills and thanks to the old  sawmill.

Must see: the Church dedicated to San Giovanni Battista, the Castle, Henricis' house and the Walser ecomuseum.
